Prior to joining Pfizer, Saira previously served as the Director of Government Relations, Policy and Strategic Advocacy, U.S. Advocacy for sanofi-aventis, U.S. where she actively sought out government initiatives to boost brand sales, increased and maintained market potential by leading efforts to advise Congress and CMS on coverage and payment policies, and identified significant emerging trends in the practice of oncology. She also created and implemented strategies to influence the FDA policies that were impacting business initiatives and product portfolios and led third party organizations to a thorough understanding of the marketplace across key therapeutic areas, with a focus on oncology and related reimbursement issues.

Saira has represented corporate, nonprofit, and governmental interests in the legislative and regulatory health policy arena for over 15 years in Washington, DC. She is experienced in positioning and leveraging policy and political information for overall corporate success, as well as designing business solutions by identifying and creating advocacy opportunities and translating them into strategic legislative and regulatory results. Saira’s successes in project management are based on her proven abilities of in-depth analysis, simplifying complex situations, and the accurate assessment of resources. She consistently meets the goals of the expanding market share in increasing revenues.

Saira received a B.A. of Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park (1989) where she graduated Magna cum laude. She then went on to the University of Virginia School of Law where she received her Juris Doctor degree (1995).
