Meet Lifetime
Each year, Lifetime Television partners with Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization for its Stop Breast Cancer for Life Campaign. For the past 13 years Lifetime has provided viewers extensive on-air programming, online content and community outreach as part of its commitment that will continue until breast cancer is eradicated.
Last year, Geralyn Lucas’ memoir, “Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy,” was made into a Lifetime Original Movie that aired on the Lifetime television network during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Y-ME's own Elaine Hill, founder of the Chattanooga Affiliate of Y-ME, was selected and honored by Lifetime as one Lifetime's Breast Cancer Heroes, a group of courageous individuals dedicated to making a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
In 1993, Elaine and other Y-ME volunteers went door-to-door to reach inner city African-American women and encourage them to get mammograms, clinical exams and practice breast self-exams. Through the years, Elaine helped to raise $400,000 for an endowment to support the local affiliate and thousands of dollars more to support the organization annually. >>Read Elaine's profile on LifetimeTV.com
Throughout the year, Lifetime TV helps get the word out about our programs and services by airing Y-ME's public service announcement frequently. Thanks to Lifetime for educating its viewers about where to turn if breast cancer ever touches close to home.
