Did you know?
Did you know that laws and decisions affecting breast cancer are voted on by your elected officials almost every month? Votes are taken on such issues as insurance coverage for mammograms, research funding, and length of hospital stay for mastectomy patients. Unfortunately, most people do not get this information until it's too late. Not anymore. Thanks to the Y-ME IlliNOISY Advocacy Network, you can easily keep up do date on the latest issues being examined.
How can I find out when breast cancer issues are raised?
As the IlliNOISY Advocacy Network monitors and initiates breast
cancer related activities in Washington and at the state level,
you can count on the Network to keep you well-informed. When an
issue is raised, we will notify you with an Advocacy Alert.

Breast Cancer Coalition click here.
What do I do when I receive an Advocacy Alert?
When you receive an Advocacy Alert simply read the information and take the action requested. Our alerts typically ask you to call or fax the offices of your elected officials. It's that easy! Because decisions can be made very quickly, we ask that you respond to Advocacy Alerts as soon as you receive them. We will briefly and clearly explain the issue and tell you who to contact. It's easy and it takes just 5 minutes.
Does advocacy really work?
Absolutely! As a result of grassroots advocacy, federal funding for breast cancer research has increased from $90 million to over $600 million in the last decade. Legislators do respond to the constituents they are elected to represent and that’s why it’s so important that they hear from you!
