For Breast Cancer Survivors and Healthcare Professionals:

  • Open Door Coordinators*
Open Door volunteers help to coordinate Y-ME’s local support groups for patients, family and friends. In this capacity, they help organize and facilitate informational meetings and rap sessions once a month for those affected by breast cancer and their families. We are looking to start new groups in the Far West suburbs and along the North Shore.

  • Just for Teens Program Presenter*
Volunteers give workshops to teens at high schools in their area. They discuss breast health and teach students how to perform breast self-exams.

  • Hotline Peer Counselor
Hotline peer counselors take calls on Y-ME's 24-hour Hotline. These volunteers are breast cancer survivors who are also trained peer counselors, experienced in handling all types of questions related to breast cancer, and can talk with callers about their feelings and concerns. Y-ME peer counselors provide information and support to anyone touched by bresat cancer. For more information, click here.
