"Just for Teens" Education
The award-winning "Just for Teens" Workshop is a breast health awareness program for senior year high school girls. The program that began in 1991 has reached over 140,000 Chicago area young women. The workshop emphasizes the importance of breast self-exam (BSE) and the earlier detection of breast cancer. Facilitators are breast cancer survivors, specially trained to deliver age appropriate information.
We are excited about this program and we hope the idea of educating thousands of young women is a program you will want for your school. If you are interested in getting involved, contact Lynette Kos at lkos@y-me.org or at (312) 364-9071.
From the Schools:
"...Professional yet down-to-earth presentation of need-to-know material."
"Thank you, thank you. I can't begin to tell you the impact you have had on my students."
"...heard nothing but positives about the presentation and the importance of including it each year."
"The girls' comments are that it is important to hear this from someone who has gone through breast cancer."
"...the girls left feeling empowered."
From the Teens:
"I really enjoyed the speaker. She was wonderful. Overall, the presentation was informative, interesting, relevant, and possibly lifesaving."
"You didn't scare me, but you informed me. And that's good."
"It made a bigger impact on me because the speaker had breast cancer herself."
"I feel extremely informed and will definitely go home and share it with my mom, aunts, and grandmother. This is a great program."
