Partner Match Program

Do you have a wife, partner or special loved one who has breast cancer?  Do you struggle with what to say, or how to support that person?

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization provides a unique service for those supporting a loved one through breast cancer – the Partner Match Program.  The program provides support and education for people while they support a wife, partner or other loved one through the disease.

How does the program work?
We can match you with a person who has had similar experiences being the caregiver or loved one of a survivor. Simply call the Y-ME Hotline at 1-800-221-2141 and request to be paired with a Match Program volunteer. The peer counselor on the Hotline will take your name and phone number, and ask you a few questions in order to match you with a volunteer who can best address your concerns – someone who has been there and can relate to what you’re feeling.

How will I benefit from calling?
When a loved one is diagnosed, you may feel helpless or overwhelmed. We know that coping during this time can be difficult, and that's why Y-ME is here to help you.  Y-ME peer counselors understand how you’re feeling and know that talking to someone who’s been there is extremely rewarding. You don’t have to cope with this alone.

How do I become a partner match peer counselor?
Y-ME is always recruiting husbands, partners, friends and loved ones to become match peer counselors for partners.  If you’re interested in participating, visit the volunteer section of our website.

To speak with someone about these opportunities, please email dhayes@y-me.org.
