About Y-ME
Founded Over a Kitchen Table. Built on the Belief That No One Should Face Breast Cancer Alone.
In 1978, two breast cancer patients — Mimi Kaplan and Ann Marcou — started Y-ME with a simple but powerful idea: that the best support comes from someone who has truly been there.
Today, Y-ME operates the only 24-hour national breast cancer hotline staffed entirely by trained peer counselors who are breast cancer survivors. Every program and service we provide is completely free of charge — available to anyone, anywhere, at any hour.
